Steel Design Book
Posted by admin on Thursday, November 27 @ Central Standard Time (959 reads)

Steel Design book covers the fundamentals of structural steel design with an emphasis on the design of members and their connections, rather than the integrated design of buildings. Not only is Steel Design a revision of LRFD Steel Design, it also encompasses the 2005 unification of LRFD and ASD as is covered in the Steel Construction Manual. The book is designed so that instructors can easily teach either LRFD or ASD, or both, time-permitting, as the differences in the two approaches are mostly conceptual. The application of fundamental principles is encouraged for design procedures as well as for practical design, but so is a theoretical approach, enhancing the students development. While the book is intended for junior-and senior-level engineering students, some of the later chapters can be used in graduate courses. Due to the changes that were made to many provisions of the Steel Construction Manual, practicing engineers will find this text useful in reviewing current practices and it will be an essential reference tool.

SVOffice 2009
Posted by admin on Wednesday, October 15 @ Central Daylight Time (307 reads)

SVSlope represents the new standard in slope stability analysis. Users can perform classic limit equilibrium slope analysis by the method of slices or newer stress-based methods. Advanced searching methods are implemented in order to correctly determine the correct location of the critical slip surface.
SVSlope is characterized by an advanced probability analysis as well as integration with other packages in SVOffice. The streamlined user interface and advanced slip surface searching algorithms make for fast model setup and computation times.
We have put extensive effort into verifying SVSlope against classic case-study scenarios and existing slope stability software packages. This allows users to be confident that results from SVSlope are correct.
SVSlope is currently being used on world-class slope stability projects. Top slope stability industry experts already support the use of SVSlope as the new standard in slope stability modeling.
Pre-Order SVSlope now and receive a discount on your purchase price! Offer expires six months after the software is released.

Software: FastTracker Software
Posted by admin on Tuesday, October 14 @ Central Daylight Time (1168 reads)

Build your reservoir model in days... And update it in hours! FastTracker® is an innovative geologic modeling system built around the revolutionary UpdateAbility concept. FastTracker automatically tracks everything you do in the course of building your geologic model, and can rebuild the model in minutes when you change or add inputs, or change any parameter.
UpdateAbility Underlying every reservoir model is FastTracker’s software architecture based on the unique UpdateAbility concept. As the workflow is built, FastTracker automatically records and do*****ents the steps so that a complete history of the workflow is available at every stage of the project. Every petrotechnical item in the project (e.g. surface, 3D mesh or porosity model) “knows” its place in the workflow. It knows what went into its creation and what other items later in the workflow depend on it.

Architectural Models
Posted by admin on Monday, October 13 @ Central Daylight Time (274 reads)

Architects’ models serve as bridge between an idea and its realization. Models are one of the three means by which an architect invents and develops his design: sketch–model–computer model. No other representational form is as effective in enabling the viewer to perceive the spaces, shapes, surfaces and textures created by the architect’s design — it is therefore a prerequisite in the design process. Architectural Models provides clear and comprehensible instruction explaining how design ideas can be skillfully translated into models. Some 200 black and white illustrations and, new to this edition, more than 40 extraordinary, full color photographs, provide a comprehensive visual explication of the text. In this completely revised edition, the authors convey practical basics and offer a wealth of innovative and valuable suggestions for students of architecture or graphic arts, as well as for experienced architectural model makers.

Conferences: 11th Baltic Sea Geotechnical Conference
Posted by admin on Saturday, October 11 @ Central Daylight Time (221 reads)

The 11th Baltic Sea Geotechnical Conference is devoted to onshore and offshore maritime engineering. These activities are still developing rapidly all over the world. Construction problems always occur in association with complexities related to geotechnical conditions. Geotechnical design in maritime engineering requires knowledge of many aspects of soil-structure interaction as well as the behaviour of different types of soils. Years of practice by individual engineers and researchers in this discipline has produced a great deal of valuable knowledge. Therefore it is very important to exchange such experiences at an international level.
